So let get start it 😀 所以，让我们开始吧 😀
1: What is your name?
2: Which country do you come from?
3: Are you a backpacker / long-term traveller or live and work abroad?
I consider myself to be a flashpacker. I’m ok with sleeping in hostels and using public transport when I’m travelling, but also like a luxury hotel every once in a while.
4: Can you tell us about yourself?
I have a 9 to 5 job, working as a marketer for a big symphony orchestra in Amsterdam. I have about 7 weeks of a year, which I use for travelling. I’ve always loved writing and have been blogging about my travels in Dutch since 2013. I meet a lot of people from all over the world when I’m travelling, and they always complained about my travel diaries being in Dutch and they couldn’t read them. So I decided to write in English as well and that’s why I launched my blog travelwithco.com this spring.
5: What is the first trip you remember taking and how old were you?
The first trip I remember was with my parents, my sister and my brothers and we drove from the north of The Netherlands to go camping in Luxemburg. I was so impressed with the mountains and the castles! I think I was about 9 or 10.
6: How often do you travel?
As much as I can! I usually do one big (backpacking or road) trip in summer, a shorter one in spring or winter and a couple of European city trips.
7: How many countries have you visited?
I actually had to look it up and count But it’s 27. Hope to reach 30 next year!
8: What’s your favourite place so far?
I loved the road trip in Southwest USA. It’s so scenic!
9: What was the most memorable moment of the trip?
It was the whole trip actually. I’ve dreamed about it for 20 years before doing it and loved every single second of it.
10: Have you had any bad experiences while travelling?
Yes, last July I went sandboarding in Peru and fell really hard. It took me a week to recover, not funny! I wrote about it in this travel diary: https://www.travelwithco.com/travel-diary-peru-paracas-a-hard-fall-in-huacachina/
11: How do you make an income while you are travelling?
I don’t. I work hard and save a lot. I have a little bit of income from my blog, but it only covers the costs of hosting.
12: Do you think we have to be rich to travel the world?
No. You can also travel by walking to a nice town 10 kilometres away and enjoy the journey
14: Do you have any advice or tips for aspiring traveller?
Don’t hesitate. Just go!
15: What place is on top of your bucket list?
Hawaii. And guess where I’ll be going next year?
16: What can’t you travel without?
My passport. A notebook, my e-reader and a camera.
17: Do you prefer solo travel or with someone else?
18: Which country has the friendliest people?
Costa Rica. I spent Christmas with a family I’ve never met before and they even had some gifts for me. So sweet!
19: What’s been your scariest moment?
The fall in Peru was one. And I never really like flying.
20: What was your most embarrassing moment?
I have so many of those moments that I’m not embarrassed anymore
21: How many foreign words have you learnt so far?
As a Dutchie, I learnt many languages in high school. I can speak Dutch, Frysian (because of my parents, it’s the 2nd language in the Netherlands), English, German, French and Spanish. And I know a couple of words in Italian, Greek and Portuguese. I always try to learn at least ‘Thank you’.
22: What’s the longest you’ve been away from home?
23: What’s your dream job?
Travel the world and write about it.
24: Where would you most like to live in the world?
I’m really happy to live in The Netherlands, close to my family and friends.
25: Dorm or private room?
A dorm if I like to meet people, a private room if I need to relax.
25: What’s your top travel tip?
26: What travel scams have you heard about?
Most people ask for more money because they think you’re rich if you’re a blond woman.
27: What’s the most reliable source of travel advice?
28: What’s been the best street food you’ve had?
I still have to try that.
29: What was the most challenging thing you’ve done?
Go on a long solo trip. I was so scared, but it was one of my best trips ever.
30: City or countryside?
Countryside, I love hiking!
31: Do you prefer to walk, take public transport, or take private transport?
Depending on the distance, but I love walking. It’s better to take things in like that.
32: Window or aisle seat?
Window. I always look outside.
33: What’s the longest single journey you’ve taken?
It took me over 30 hours to get from Amsterdam to Cairns (via Hong Kong). Two nights on a plane, horrible.

I usually do something in between. I try to stay in places at least a couple of nights.

36: How many photos have you taken?
A lot. I took about 3000 during my last trip to Peru.
37: What was the best place you stayed in?
In a tent at the Wahweap Campground near Page (Arizona, USA). I didn’t sleep because I was staring at the stars and the milky way. So beautiful!
38: Who is your dream travel companion?
Anyone who loves travelling as much as I do.
39: What is your dream travelling experience?
I would like to do a long distance hike like the PCT one day.
40: Bungee-jumping – yes or no?

Clumsy, happy and friendly.
